Sony’s new HD Digital Video Recorders
Realizing that some people have been turned off by many Sony products. And yes, I am still a fan of Panasonic in all of its forms. I would still be willing to look into Sony’s new line of DVRs. Guess I am just a really nice guy! Sony has released two HD Digital Video Recorders which were announced last fall but this is the first time I’ve seen them for sale in the US. They look like a couple respectable units, sporting a 500Gb hard drive (at least 60hrs of HD content) for $999 or a 250Gb drive (at least 30hrs) for $799.

Digital voice recorders/flash media recorders
Are broadcast quality standards similar to standards for adding sound files to web sites? I’m wondering because I’m looking for a new digital recorder to produce for this media. The reviews and comments on the Transom site are helpful, but before I buy I want to know how much quality is enough. There is clearly a wide price gap between the Sony PCM D-1 and the Olympus models. Any thoughts on where on that scale I need to be looking to meet listener expectations?
